The Mechanical Engineer will play a vital role within the on-site maintenance team, undertaking the repair and upkeep of all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, with a primary focus on their core mechanical discipline.
You will be responsible for delivering high standards of planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring that all plant and equipment operate effectively and efficiently in line with client and regulatory expectations.
This position will also involve close collaboration with managers, clinical teams, and other stakeholders across the site, including medical and nursing staff.
Strong communication skills and a proactive, professional approach are essential, as you will need to respond to service needs promptly and work collaboratively to support the safe and continuous operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations, ensuring safety standards are met
Respond to reactive repairs promptly and within agreed timescales
Work independently to diagnose faults and recommend required materials or parts
Report daily to the Estates Officer and provide job updates
Perform maintenance on air handling units, ventilation, and catering equipment
Support statutory testing and servicing of systems, including fire alarms and nurse call services
Maintain accurate work records and interface with the Helpdesk Administrator for job updates
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Experience in PPM and reactive maintenance
Strong understanding and adherence to health & safety standards
Good communication and customer service skills
Able to work independently or within a team environment
