We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Applications Engineer to join the Applications team within Slough reporting to the Lead Engineer. As the Mechanical Applications Engineer you will play a key role in providing engineering support and technical selections for dry gas seal applications in centrifugal compressors and related Turbo Machinery. Your developing expertise in high-speed rotating industrial equipment will be essential in conducting technical evaluations aligned with OEM customer requirements, utilising our state-of-the-art Dry Gas Seal products.


This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours. (hybrid working)

Duties & Responsibilities

Client Liaison: Collaborate with internal and external clients to meticulously identify their engineering requirements. Problem Solver: Investigate and analyse engineering issues, devising effective solutions that align with the highest industry standards. Project Management: Plan and execute projects with precision, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality benchmarks, and cost-effectiveness. Design Excellence: Working with the design team for solutions focused on functionality, robustness, standardisation, and cost-effectiveness, reviewing designs created in 2D/3DCAD, ANSYS, and other cutting-edge tools. Analytical Wizardry: Undertake complex calculations and analyses, ensuring the application of the latest engineering methodologies. Innovative Thinking: Identify new systems and processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost savings. Collaborative Communication: Foster effective communication with fellow engineers, cross-functional departments, and internal/external stakeholders. Global Reach: Be ready for occasional travel, contributing to the success of projects beyond the Slough Centre of Excellence.


Qualifications



Accredited bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Extensive experience within a related industry / company. Broad knowledge of engineering sciences, materials, and modern manufacturing processes Ability to review 2D&3D CAD drawings Knowledge of FEA (ANSYS) evaluation of stress and deformation, thermodynamic and fluid dynamics Project management skills Effective written and oral communication skills Team player
