Mechanical CAD Engineer - 6-Month Contract (Contract or Payroll)

Farm Tech Supplies Ltd is a rapidly growing agricultural machinery supplier based in Alton, Hampshire. We specialise in designing, improving, and supplying robust, affordable equipment for smallholdings, farms, estates, and ground-care professionals.

We operate the well?established Winton brand and are now expanding the range and upgrading core models.

The Role

We are seeking a capable and detail-focused Mechanical CAD Engineer to join our team on a 6?month contract, with potential to become permanent depending on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Produce high?quality 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs. Work with 3D STEP files, modifying assemblies where required. Prepare technical drawing packs for manufacturing and prototype builds. Liaise with the product development team and UK fabrication partners. Maintain drawing registers and revision control.

Skills & Experience

Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, or equivalent). Ability to modify and interpret 3D STEP models. Understanding of fabrication, machining, weldments, and assemblies. Experience producing accurate manufacturing drawings. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable (Not Essential)

Experience with agricultural or ground?care machinery. Own CAD workstation/software (useful but not required).

Working Arrangement

Based at FTS, Blacknest Industrial Park, Alton. Hybrid working available once established. Engagement via PAYE fixed?term contract or freelance day?rate. Not initially a permanent position; permanent offer may follow.

Salary & Rates

PAYE: 32,000 - 42,000 per year (pro?rata) Contractor: 160 - 250 per day depending on experience
