Job Description

As a Mechanical Design Engineer with a global automotive company you will be involved in the mechanical design and development of company products, test rigs and fixtures. This challenging role requires an experienced design engineer experienced in complex mechanical assemblies with close tolerance parts. Conditions: Based on site in Essex, immediate start with contract review end of Dec 2023 GBP40-45ph, outside of IR35. Your key responsibilities will include: -- Creating 3D models and 2D Drawings using Catia -- Carrying out mechanical design activities to meet mechanical and system requirements and change requests -- Supporting FE modelling and simulation to investigate solutions and validate mechanical designs -- Participating in design evaluation activities and mechanical DFMEA -- Contributing to design reviews -- Liaising with manufacturing partners in the supply of prototype parts Your Profile: -- Qualified engineer (ideally qualified to degree level, however applications from engineers with a HND with relevant industry experience is also welcomed) -- Proficient with Catia V5 -- Experience in the design of complex mechanical assemblies with close tolerance parts -- Experience with Enovia Smarteam PLM tool. -- Good understanding of drawing tolerancing as per BS8888 Desirable additional expertise: -- Siemens NX experience -- Experience in both solid and surface modelling -- Windchill PLM tool experience -- Automotive or aerospace sector experience -- Design for manufacture experience -- Experience of design for sand-casting/die casting -- Mechanical design of electric motors -- Understanding of workshop and tool room processes Tiro is a specialist Employment Agency and Employment Business assisting with both contract and permanent opportunities in automotive, aerospace, electronics, defence & pharmaceutical engineering & manufacturing.
