Mechanical Design Engineer (Hands-On Focus)

We are seeking a motivated, practically minded Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with electromechanical systems, from concept and prototyping through to testing and commissioning, and who takes pride in seeing their designs coming to life.

Key Responsibilities

Work alongside the lead engineer to develop, prototype, and refine mechanical components for animatronics and themed attractions. Assemble, test and troubleshoot electro mechanical systems. Create and update 2D/3D CAD models and technical drawings to support the build and fabrication process. Collaborate with other disciplines (electrical, structural, scenic) to ensure smooth integration of mechanical systems. Maintain accurate records of design iterations, workshop tests, and installation adjustments.

Requirements

Essential:

Degree, diploma, apprenticeship, or strong practical experience in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline. At least 3 years' practical experience in mechanical design, fabrication, or installation. Experience in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) for design and build support. Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and turn them into physical builds. Hands-on experience with workshop tools, prototyping, or mechanical assemblies. Proactive, takes ownership of tasks, and able to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.

Desirable:

Experience in themed entertainment, scenic production, or creative manufacturing. Knowledge in robotics, automation, pneumatics, and motion-based systems. Exposure to basic electrical systems (e.g., schematics, PLCs, Arduino).
