Job Description

The purpose of the post is to provide engineering support to the design team and the successful job holder will be responsible for supporting projects.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a good working knowledge of MAN 0004 (Engineering), a good understanding of Dounreay design processes as well as a good understanding of design governance and its application.


Main Responsibilities




Control, develop and implement plans and procedures Design, evaluate and deliver the technical governance of projects Identify resource requirements to prepare for/carry out activities Apply health, safety, environmental and waste management processes with engineering activities taking advice where necessary from appropriate specialists Undertake the professional management and execution of contract and project works including observation of work to identify industry standards are applied Resolve technical queries and develop appropriate solutions for operational problems Write technical specifications Monitor implementation of plans and procedures to ensure compliance with project schedules, safety procedures and legislation Liaise effectively with regulators and stakeholders on specific projects Support independent verification and substantiation report Ensure designs are compliant with the relevant regulations Create design documentation including engineering reports, proposals, specifications, calculations, drawing and reviews Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to post

Aptitudes and Experience




HND in Engineering or equivalent based on Engineering Council Standard for Engineering Technician Relevant experience in mechanical engineering Good understanding of design governance and both the low risk and full design processes Post specific capability analysis assessment Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Terms and Conditions





Basic Annual Income - 44,811 to 76,934 overtime rates apply as standard.



37.9 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Every third Friday being a non-working day.



Annual Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave, 8 public holidays, 2.5 privilege holidays



12 Month Contract
