A large, well-established engineering business in Cookstown is continuing through a strong period of growth and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding design team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically complex projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with clear long-term development prospects.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions across a range of engineering projects. You will work closely with electrical, process, and controls engineers, contributing throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and development in line with client and project specifications
• Production and coordination of 3D models using Revit and related design tools
• Creation of general arrangement drawings, sections, and elevations
• Development of detailed fabrication and installation drawings
• Preparation of equipment schedules, calculations, and technical specifications
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to source equipment and technical information
• Supporting technical submissions and design reviews
• Attending project design meetings and site visits as required
• Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary design team
• Ensuring designs comply with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards

What We're Looking For
Essential:

• HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a mechanical design engineering role
• Strong experience with 3D design software such as Revit, SolidWorks, or Inventor
• Background in fabrication and practical design for manufacture
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
• Proactive, innovative approach to engineering design
