What you'll be doing:



As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

Design mechanical solutions for CMMs (drive units, structural stiffness, adjustment features, repeatable relative motion, etc.) to provide competitive products

Take ownership of mechanical system performance (safety, metrology performance, durability)

Drive innovation to achieve improved performance and reliability at lower cost

Provide engineering documentation (design manual, technical construction file)

Oversee the design project content, coach team members to pursue the best technical solutions, provide documentation for review within the team and with external stakeholders, manage project result expectations and manage project content and timing.

Define methods and procedures for design activities and storage of related documentation

Maintain documentation and provide backup of data

Location:



You'll mainly work at our site based at East Midlands Airport, in Castle Donington. However, we do offer the flexibility to work from home on Fridays, unless business needs require attendance on site.

Our ideal applicant for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer will also be able to demonstrate the following as part of their application and interview process:

Possess a Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Experience in the design of 3D metrology systems including the calculation of stiffness, selection of motors and materials

Knowledge of safety legislation

Experience in the use of SolidWorks

Understanding of the metrology process as a user of the product

Knowledge of precision mechanics
