Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: Southampton Area (Hybrid)Employment Type: Full-TimeOverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy based in Fareham. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 2-5 years' experience to take on greater responsibility, contribute to exciting projects, and progress toward a senior role.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will deliver sustainable, innovative mechanical design solutions across residential, commercial, education, and healthcare projects, working from concept through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, ventilation, hot & cold-water systems, and plantrooms
• Prepare calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation in line with UK standards
• Produce and modify design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit (Revit experience desirable)
• Participate in client, contractor, and internal design meetings, contributing technical expertise
• Support site inspections and technical assessments as required
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
• Stay up-to-date with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, industry best practices, and low-carbon technologies

Candidate Profile

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• 2-5 years' experience in mechanical building services design within consultancy or contracting
• Proficiency in Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD; Revit knowledge is advantageous
• Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE standards, and sustainable design principles
• Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Motivated to develop toward Senior Engineer level and progress toward Chartered status
