About the role:
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver mechanical systems that meet customer specifications and regulatory needs. To provide subject matter expertise in mechanical engineering solutions that meet customer specifications and regulatory needs and to assist with continuous improvement of the design engineering capability.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop engineering solutions working in conjunction with designers within the team
Check drawings
Produce CAD models and Engineering Drawings using Solid Edge to meet technical standards
Prepare technical documents such as specifications, reports, manuals, procedures etc.
Authorise and check technical documents and test specifications
Interpret technical specifications and data from internal and external sources
Use of Team centre to manage engineering data and releases
Work within change process' managing workload in a timely fashion
Carry out engineering problem solving in relation to internal and external issue management
Liaise with suppliers and act as a KNDS representative at customer review meetings
Apply engineering governance to project portfolio.
Provide support for the production, test and field engineering teams. Support the sales team with bids and quotations
To assist with continuous improvement of the design engineering capability.
What we're looking for:
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Significant experience in design and development of mechanical systems.
Medium to heavy engineering experience
Experience working for an organisation in the Manufacturing Industry.
Understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures
Have proven experience in the design of systems from original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production in a Lead role.
Excellent IT skills (MS package and analysis tools)
Hands-on 3D CAD design expertise
Experience producing 2D technical drawings including working knowledge of GD&T
Working knowledge of PLM systems.
