About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer specialising in conveyor system design and manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and optimisation of conveyor and material handling systems, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and operational efficiency.

This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, from design and manufacturing through to installation and commissioning, and includes purchasing materials and components and conducting site visits to support project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Develop bespoke and standard conveyor systems.

Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.

Perform load, power, and tension calculations to specify components accurately.

Select materials, drives, bearings, and support structures to meet operational requirements.

Prepare purchase requests, select suppliers, and manage procurement of materials and components.

Conduct site visits for layout measurements, installation supervision, and commissioning support.

Provide technical support to the sales team, including feasibility studies, quotations, and client presentations.

Support fabrication, assembly, and site installation teams throughout project lifecycle.

Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and industry standards (BS, ISO, PUWER, CE, etc.).

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Proven experience in conveyor system design or material handling equipment.

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor).

Strong understanding of mechanical drives, fabrication, and assembly processes.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desirable:

Experience with FEA or motion analysis.

Experience with Emulate 3D or similar simulation package.

Experience with purchasing/procurement and site visits.
