Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services (HVAC)

An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing Building Services team. You'll play a key role in the design and delivery of high-quality HVAC systems across a range of commercial and industrial projects.

What you'll be doing

Developing detailed HVAC designs in line with project specifications and performance standards Calculating heat loads, airflow rates, and system capacities using recognised methods Using Hevacomp and IES software to model and analyse system performance and energy efficiency Selecting suitable equipment (AHUs, chillers, pumps, etc.) to meet design intent and budget constraints Producing coordinated layouts ensuring integration with architectural and structural designs Ensuring compliance with ACOP, CIBSE, BSRIA, BESA, and all relevant building regulations Supporting the production of accurate technical drawings and documentation Attending design review meetings and liaising with clients, suppliers, and site teams Providing technical input throughout installation, commissioning, and project delivery Conducting site surveys and validating design data to ensure real-world accuracy
What we're looking for

A degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering Proven experience in mechanical design within the building services industry Strong working knowledge of Hevacomp, IES, and relevant design software Understanding of current building regulations, CIBSE guides, and design standards Excellent communication and organisational skills A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
