The role:
As the on shift Mechanical Engineer you are responsible for providing engineering support to achieve the plant production targets & PPM completion rate to KPI target levels. The key responsibilities of this role are to actively take part in breakdown response, PPM, Continuous Improvement (CI) Initiatives, Training and Housekeeping.

Purpose of the role:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer you will provide days based breakdown and preventative maintenance support on all the conveyers in the sort plant to achieve high levels of conveyer reliability and production capability.
Key responsibilities will include:
Ensuring conveyors are maintained both proactively and reactively to deliver safe and reliable operation in line with planned production requirements.
Accountable for PPM days organisation - setting up blades and keeping the same high standard of tolerance.
Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping (within specified areas)
Practice & encourage others to deliver the highest standards of Health & Safety at all times and ensure that all plant and ancillary equipment is maintained to these high standards
All recording systems for work completion are correctly compiled with all relevant information detailed
Assist the Area Engineering Supervisor in minimising machine down time by proposing & introducing improved maintenance programmes & continuous improvement ideas.
Responsible for timely completion of all relevant plant PPM schedules and to provide support for all site wide PPM programs
Ensure good communication avenues are prevalent between the Engineering Teams & the Operational teams
Work as part of a multi-functional Mechanical / Electrical on-site Team
To be successful in the role, you will require:
Good academic qualifications (i.e. C&G or NVQ in a Mechanical Engineering discipline)
Apprentice trained & qualified
Minimum 3-5 years' experiences in a Conveyor Maintenance function within a fast paced environment.
Experience of fault finding, breakdown repairs, completion of Preventative Maintenance routines on Mechanical aspects of various manufacturing production equipment, Continuous Improvement activities
Light Welding and Fabrication (Advantageous)
