Mechanical Engineer
within our Engineering department.
Reporting to the
Engineering Manager
, you will take a lead role in interpreting equipment lifecycle status across the facility and proactively identifying remedial actions, future investments, and maintenance strategies. You will support compliance across safety, quality and environmental standards and drive improvement initiatives through collaboration with engineering and production teams.
Key responsibilities:
Assess equipment lifecycle and define strategic maintenance improvements
Support compliance with regulatory, statutory and corporate HSE requirements
Coordinate repair or replacement of faulty mechanical equipment
Control and monitor PSSR and LOLER compliance on site
Troubleshoot mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement lasting corrective actions
Support site continuous improvement (CI) activities related to H&S, quality, and efficiency
Contribute to engineering projects including design, cost evaluation, supplier liaison, planning, and commissioning
Provide technical support on cost reduction and corporate initiatives
Ensure critical spares are available for key plant and equipment
Develop and follow procedures aligned with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001 standards
ABOUT YOU
Required Experience:
HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
Proven mechanical knowledge including steam plant, pneumatics, hydraulics, and manufacturing systems
Project engineering experience including supplier coordination, project control, and commissioning
Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory standards
Required Skills:
Ability to assess engineering issues and implement practical solutions under pressure
Strong organisational and planning skills, with a logical and proactive approach
Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated leadership in performance management and team support
