About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated
Mechanical Engineer with specialisation in heating systems
to join our team in Dromore. You'll take a lead role in the
Stage 3 and Stage 4 design phases
, developing mechanical and heating solutions for a wide variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects across the UK and Ireland.
This is a
hands-on, client-facing role
involving detailed technical design, drawing production, site visits, and system oversight. You'll work closely with internal and external teams to deliver robust, compliant, and buildable solutions, often travelling to project locations throughout
Northern Ireland, Great Britain, and the Republic of Ireland

What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
Design and specify heating and mechanical systems across varied project types
Produce high-quality mechanical and plumbing drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions
Conduct site visits for surveys, installation supervision, and commissioning
Ensure all designs align with applicable building codes and regulations
Support tendering, budgeting, and delivery planning across the project lifecycle
Stage 3 Design - Taking Ideas into Detailed Reality
Prepare fully detailed mechanical and plumbing system drawings and written specifications
Finalise material selection and vendor sourcing, considering lead times and cost
Collaborate with teams to ensure proper system integration and coordination
Refine performance and compliance through prototyping or testing where needed
Provide clear, structured information for accurate cost estimation and budgeting
Assist with planning applications and preliminary regulatory approvals
Stage 4 Design - Getting Ready to Build
Develop final construction-ready mechanical and plumbing documentation
Produce comprehensive installation specifications and schedules (e.g. BoQs, equipment schedules)
Coordinate procurement planning and technical submissions
Contribute to construction sequencing and project phasing strategies
Support final risk assessments, health & safety planning, and information exchange protocols
Help secure formal client sign-offs and regulatory approvals
What We're Looking For
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
Demonstrable experience in heating system and mechanical services design
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organised and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability
Comfortable with regular travel across NI, GB, and ROI
Desirable Skills & Experience
Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status
Experience in low-carbon or renewable heating technologies (e.g., heat pumps, solar PV)
Familiarity with UK and Irish building codes and standards (CIBSE, Building Regs Part L, etc.)
