We are looking for an Engineer to join our Utilities & Facilities Mechanical Platform team providing engineering expertise to the Ware Campus. Located in Hertfordshire, GSKs Ware site is one of the key manufacturing centers for GSK, manufacturing medicines and supplying globally.
Reporting to the Mechanical Platform Equipment Lead for the U&F Engineering Team, the role holder will hold and develop platform expertise on a range of mechanical system infrastructure. These systems are aligned to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Research and Development and Laboratory facilities.
We are looking for an engineer with a demonstrable background in mechanical systems. The role requires application of specialist mechanical engineering knowledge to support the technical authority and subject matter expert for changes to safety systems, maintenance lifecycle plans and performance improvements to utilities across the campus.
The Ware Campus is seeing a significant amount of investment in steam main distribution, seeing multiple large capital asset refreshment programmes in place across the campus. The role holder will influence and provide technical guidance facilitating this expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide short term (Day-to-Day) and long-term Mechanical Engineering support to optimise plant availability, performance, equipment reliability and cost.
Responsible for assessing and proposing improvements across Mechanical systems, Hazardous Utilities, and associated Infrastructure on site (supporting documentation and validation reviews).
Supporting and in some cases managing mitigations on a range of gaps from GSK Quality Procedures and Engineering Standards
Frequent interaction with Quality and Safety Practitioners and Regulatory bodies (via regulatory GMP audits and product market-specific audits).
Trained to perform root cause analysis of deviations, including collaborating with various departments (eg; Engineering, Quality, EHS and Production).
Supporting and driving conformance to asset maintenance strategy on Mechanical systems (such as PSSR schedule adherence) and integrating Continuous Improvement techniques (looking to further integrate digital and data processes to optimize operational effectiveness of the plant).
To ensure mechanical asset integrity is maintained and meets the requirements of health, safety and environmental regulations (I.e., PSSR, BS EN13480, ASME B31.3).
Providing direction for embedded service partners to ensure the contractual deliverables are achieved.
To support the delivery of mechanical engineering capital projects, by providing technical support through each stage of the project lifecycle.
About You:
Relevant engineering qualifications and experience is required. A good standard of numeracy and literacy is essential. You will be a willing learner and a good communicator who takes personal accountability, ownership and action. Good verbal, written and computer communication skills are needed, and you will be able to adopt a participative management style to empower the team (by involving them in performance evaluation and improvement processes).
About Ware Manufacturing Site:
Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form, and the site has circa 1,500 highly motivated and capable people working at it. The Ware site holds a unique position in our network a site responsible for launching the companys pipeline of new medicines in oral and solid dose forms, as well as operating a high-volume commercial production for respiratory devices.
