Mechanical Engineer Maintenance Technician (Full or Part Time)

The role:

The preparation, repair, and refurbishment of used bakery equipment and machinery, for resale, based in an old school workshop.

Duties include (depending on skills and ability):

Taking apart old machines
Repairing and replacing machine parts (bearings, belts, shafts, springs, covers, etc)
Diagnosing mechanical faults
Reassembling, cleaning, and testing machines

Experience with small power tools essential

It would be a bonus, but not necessary, to have experience in any of the following;
The repair and replacement of electromechanical parts, such as wiring, fuses and other electrical components
Electrical multi-meter
Mig welding
Paint spraying

Experience with small power tools essential, and ability to use an electrical multi-meter preferred.

Although not essential, an HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical / mechanical / engineering would be an advantage.

We operate with a very small team; hence this is a very varied role. We do not expect you to have the necessary skills to carry out all the tasks listed above, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn is essential.

You need to be self motivated, able to work on your own initiative, willing to work unsupervised and also as part of a team, be totally reliable and have a friendly "can do" attitude. You must also be content to undertake a DBS (police record) check.

Our normal hours of working are 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday (40 paid hours per week). Overtime available.

If applying for a part time position it is offered on the basis of 3-4 days per week.
Applicants of all ages and experience will be considered. The salary range is 30,000 to 42,000 per year depending upon experience, with part time employees paid pro rata for the hours worked (hourly rate equivalent 14.38-20.14). The higher rates of salary are acheivable for those engineers who's skills are fully transferable and will be able to hit the ground running with a higher work rate. Both full time and part time jobs are permanent roles.
