Overview:

Celanese are currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join us here at the Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES) plant in Newport, South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced and varied manufacturing environment where we take pride in delivering flawless performance. You will provide business support at one of Europe's premier Thermoplastic Vulcanizate plants, which provides raw materials to the global automotive industry.


You will join our multi-disciplined team working on various pieces of mechanical equipment in an engineering environment. You will play a key role in ensuring maintenance, modifications and unplanned breakdowns are resolved in a safe and timely manner while liaising with stakeholders and completing relevant documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, an enthusiastic drive for problem-solving, a good understanding of Knowledge of modern machining techniques and fabrication.
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

Assisting with routine functioning of equipment, working with stakeholders and other disciplines to complete repairs and breakdowns. Technical specification and ordering of Mechanical equipment. Involvement with Root Cause Analysis ensuring plant equipment strategies are up to date. Lead the design and upgrade of mechanical components and systems from concept to installation, ensuring functionality, efficiency, reliability, and safety. Have an involvement with current engineering maintenance tasks to give ownership and direction. Liaise with Operations team regarding scheduled work and improvement ideas. To meaningfully contribute to and support continuous improvements of manufacturing processes, equipment, work methods and activities. Work with external suppliers and where appropriate obtain quotations, and consumables, for plant work/upgrades and refurbishment work and where necessary manage contractor activity on site. Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and reports. Propose and implement changes to processes and systems, cost down initiatives, productivity improvements and quality enhancement advice and support on strategic capex plans. Work closely with other engineers, discipline leads and team members to ensure seamless communication and integration of mechanical engineering with overall maintenance goals. Ensure designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality benchmarks. Experience of SAP Plant Maintenance would be advantageous.

Qualifications:

Relevant Qualification:

Ideally Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Experience using safety related systems (Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, Management of change). Good collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills. * IT literate and confident in using all of the Microsoft Office 365 software.
