We are seeking a detail-oriented, enthusiastic and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client's pharmaceutical manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting mechanical side of manufacturing within a GMP regulated environment, usually clean rooms but also warehouse and other on-site facilities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to expand experience within highly advanced pharmaceutical operation, someone who is looking for higher purpose in the job and is prepared to work in a cleanroom environment and ensure compliance with GMP regulations at all times.
The ideal candidate will therefore have a mechanical engineering background within pharmaceutical industry and have ideally gained experience within a cGMP, FDA and MHRA regulated environment.
The usual working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm and we are looking for someone who can be flexible and able to work extended hours when required. You will be expected to be on call (with standby bonus of 165 per seven days) and there will be an additional payment of 100 per call out.
Initially this will be a fixed term contract for 12 months with opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
Required
HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent
Have a broad knowledge and experience working within a cGMP environment (cGMP training can be provided)
Excellent fault finding and problem solving skills
Pro-active approach to prevent any lost time in production
Good interpersonal communication skills and team worker
Strong understanding of H&S policies and safe working practices
Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator.
Good levels of physical fitness
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Experience with Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Perform production equipment maintenance, calibration and safety checks
Setting up of production machines for optimum efficiency
Assist production in running machines for maximum yield
Troubleshooting, analysing, installing, modifying and repairing machines
Responsible for keeping accurate up-to-date records on all equipment
Identify critical spare parts, manage & maintain spares stocks
Manage continuous improvements and apply route cause analysis
Responsible for keeping accurate up-to-date records on all equipment
Review machine downtime to incorporate improvements and upgrades
Tendering maintenance contracts and assessing quotations
Managing and approving risk assessments and method statements
Writing PTW and ensuring contractors are compliant at all times
Desired Skills:
Multi-skilled induvial with a mechanical or mechatronics bias
Experience in computer maintenance management system
Experience and knowledge on HMI, PLC's, AC & Servo Drives and control systems
Experience in AutoCAD
Computer skills:
Must be competent in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Literacy and Numeracy:
Must have excellent communication skills particularly, written English and interpretation and Maths.
Must be competent in writing reports and Standard Operating Procedures for maintaining production equipment
