Job Title - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a practical, hands-on individual to join our team as a Mechanical Service Engineer. This role involves diagnosing and solving real-world mechanical and engineering problems across a range of equipment and industries. Given the diverse nature of our operations, the daily responsibilities will vary depending on project requirements, machinery, and site locations.

Key Responsibilities:



Perform repair and maintenance work on conveyors, processing plants, silos, and other industrial machinery. Carry out welding and fabrication tasks to support ongoing maintenance and repair operations. Respond to breakdowns, often at short notice, particularly within recycling plants and industrial sites. Travel across the UK to carry out silo repair work and other on-site engineering services. Assess and select appropriate materials, tools, and repair techniques for each specific task. Maintain high standards of health and safety, both on-site and in the workshop. Keep accurate records of work completed, parts used, and issues encountered. Develop and enhance personal engineering skills through continued learning and practical experience. Collaborate with other engineers and site personnel to ensure smooth project delivery.

Working Hours & Conditions:



Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30. Flexibility is essential - early starts, overnight stays, and occasional weekend work will be required to meet customer needs and manage urgent breakdowns. All hours worked over 40 per week are eligible for overtime pay. Main workshop is located in Cheadle, Staffordshire; however, regular travel throughout the UK is a core part of the role.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:



Significant hands-on experience in the engineering or mechanical maintenance sector. Proficiency in fabrication and mechanical repair techniques. A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team small team. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in breakdown scenarios. A full, UK driving licence. Willingness to travel and stay away from home several times per month. Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients on-site.
Desirable (but not essential):.

Experience working in recycling, waste management, or heavy industrial environments. Forklift and MEWP operation experience.

Pay: 36,000.00-42,000.00 per year
