We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join an office-based team. The successful candidate will prepare accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for mechanical projects, directly contributing to the growth and success of our division.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review project enquiries, specifications, and engineering drawings to prepare full and accurate mechanical take-offs.
  • Compile detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, plant/equipment hire, subcontractor costs, preliminaries, and project-specific expenses.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and incorporate into tender submissions.
  • Produce comprehensive tender packages, cost breakdowns, and submittals.
  • Assess risk, health & safety, programme, and logistic requirements and factor into estimates.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, supplier pricing records, material rate libraries, and historical cost data.
  • Collaborate with design, project management, and commercial teams to ensure alignment on scope, deliverables, and profitability.
  • Participate in tender reviews, bid negotiations, and value-engineering initiatives as required.
About You
  • Previous experience in a mechanical estimating role, ideally within an MEP, building services, or contracting environment.
  • Proven ability to interpret mechanical/HVAC/MEP drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or estimating software.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to deliver competitive yet profitable bids under time pressures.
