Mechanical Estimator - Plumbing & Heating (Wet Side)
Derby
Salary: 45-50K
Type: Full-time, Permanent
An established and growing Mechanical (Plumbing & Heating) contractor based in Derby is looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator with a strong focus on wet side services. This opportunity would suit an experienced estimator or an engineer ready to move into an estimating role within a supportive and technically strong team. Working on a range of commercial and industrial projects, this position plays a key role in the tendering and pre-construction process, supporting continued business growth across the region.
The Role
The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects, with a particular emphasis on wet systems.
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing detailed cost estimates for plumbing and heating packages
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents
Carrying out take-offs and producing bills of quantities
Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
Assessing project risks and value engineering opportunities
Working closely with project managers and directors during bid stages
Supporting handover from estimating to delivery teams

What's Required

Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator or strong background in mechanical building services
Solid knowledge of wet side services including plumbing, heating, and associated plant
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail
Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders
Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office packages
