2x rate on weekends (10pm Friday to 6am Monday) | 1.5x rate midweek

About The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining all plant equipment and mechanical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. By providing proactive maintenance and quick response to breakdowns, the position supports minimal downtime, compliance with safety standards, and smooth running of all plant operations.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure that all jobs are carried out safely, with due regard to risk assessments, permit to work, working procedures and statutory legislation. Responsible for wearing protective clothing and notifying supervisor of potential hazards.
Maintain all plant mechanical equipment and report damage or misuse to operational supervisor. Liaise with operational staff where appropriate.
Provide a standard of work and productivity consistent with good customer service.
Develop an in-depth working knowledge of plant equipment and associated drawings in order to repair and maintain equipment to minimise downtime.
Use initiative, common sense and organisational skills in order to work without supervision and ensure the job is completed accurately and safely.
Inform management and engineering staff to ensure everyone is aware of the appropriate timescales for completing tasks. This is particularly essential during peak periods.
Undertake ancillary tasks as required.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a dependable and skilled professional with a proactive approach to mechanical maintenance. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, hands-on, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to minimise downtime are essential. Flexibility is also key - you should be willing to work overtime when necessary and be happy to join an on-call rota to respond to urgent requirements and support operational continuity.
Qualifications and Skills:
Time served qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent role/qualifications
Previous experience of working within an industrialised environment
Experience of maintenance and repair of dockside/transporter cranes, forklift truck up to and including 40 tonne and hydraulic operating systems
You should be comfortable working at height / outdoors
Full UK driving licence
Full right to work in the UK
