The role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be at the heart of maintaining and repairing critical systems that keep our naval fleet operational. This is a role that makes a real difference - supporting national defence, protecting communities, and contributing to global security. You'll gain hands-on experience with complex engineering systems, develop your technical expertise, and enjoy a career that offers variety, challenge, and purpose.
Day-to-day you'll be required to:

• Complete planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work to meet business objectives
• Identify and rectify system defects and alterations to ensure performance and availability
• Carry out repairs and inspections on combat systems equipment and occasionally across other sections
• Work within all Health & Safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work
• Suggest improvements to processes and systems to boost productivity

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter

• Previous experience in a marine or industrial engineering environment, or mechanical maintenance
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and solve problems effectively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
• Knowledge of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, and COSHH

Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3, NVQ, or City & Guilds equivalent)
• OR HNC or above in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
