Description



This is an opportunity for a mechanical service engineer for generating gas engines. You will service, maintain, fault find, build, and install these engines across various sites in the country. You will work alongside experienced and skilled engineers. As part of your role, you will cover the following:

When based in our Great Yarmouth workshop, you will spend time in either the engine build shop, cleaning, stripping, inspecting, building, overhauling, and preparing engines. Or, in our cylinder head shop, preparing, servicing, and overhauling cylinder heads, connecting rods, water pumps etc... Accompanied by skilled and experienced technicians, you will visit sites around the UK to perform a variety of tasks, including servicing, overhauling, fault finding, repair, removal, installation, and commissioning of engines. During this process, you will learn how to follow company and customer procedures and processes, documentation, Health and Safety legislation, safe use a variety of machinery, tooling, and equipment, including precise measuring equipment, safe manual handling and lifting techniques.

Normal Working Week



Workshop - Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600

Standard working week - 40 hours (paid breaks totalling 1 hour per day)

On Site - As required (typically 50 hours, Monday - Friday between 0700 - 1700)

(company van, paid breaks, hotel, breakfast, evening meal and travel outside of 10 hour working day)

As is normal with this type of work, overtime and weekend work will be required, and can be at short notice. You must have the willingness and flexibility to accommodate this if required.

Requirements



As a member of our team at ABC Power Ltd, there are expectations and requirements placed upon yourself:

A relevant mechanical engineering qualification to a minimum level 3 standard preferred Experience working on Jenbacher, Deutz, CAT, Cummins gas engines. Or, Experience working on diesel marine engines. We would then provide appropriate training to upskill the right candidate Sound mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills Practically minded with a willingness to learn and apply what is shown in a safe manner Good communication skills, ability to follow procedure and complete necessary documentation Ability to work as part of a team Good reliability, professionalism and time keeping Ability and willingness to work away from home for periods at a time, sometimes at very short notice

Things to Consider



Hourly rate will be subject to experience, qualifications, and whether you are working on site or in our workshop. We will review and increase pay periodically, depending upon performance and progress. As mentioned, you will be expected to work away, where transport and hotel accommodation will be provided, along with mileage and meal allowance. You will also be paid a higher wage for working on site. The more site work you complete, the higher your wage will be, as much as 50,000+ per year can be earnt. Unlike offshore work, we work very few weekends. Our benefits package includes the following:
