Weeks Eng is a well-established engineering and maintenance contractor known for quality, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety. We operate in both quarry and asphalt plant facilities and are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to fill a vacancy at one of our sites in Barnstable.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery and fixed plant across both quarry and asphalt plant operations. Working on a day shift pattern, the role involves routine and emergency maintenance, welding, and occasional call-out work to ensure minimal downtime across site.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and repair equipment across both asphalt plants and quarry sites, including crushers, conveyors, screeners, burners, mixers, pumps, and associated machinery. Carry out MIG and stick welding to a high standard for structural and plant repairs. Diagnose faults and undertake mechanical repairs efficiently and safely. Follow planned preventative maintenance schedules and support reactive repair work. Participate in shift work, weekend overtime, and occasional out-of-hours call-outs. Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Work effectively as part of a small, hands-on maintenance team.
Requirements:

Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering. Previous experience in quarrying, asphalt, mining, or heavy industrial environments. Proficient in MIG and stick welding. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems. Flexible approach to shift work, overtime, and being part of a call-out rota. Commitment to high safety standards and team collaboration.
