Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Shift)
Looking for a shift role that gives you real time off, long breaks built into the rotation, and the chance to work with modern production machinery?
This Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Shift) position offers exactly that - plus long-term stability and progression.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be part of a skilled engineering team responsible for keeping key production equipment running safely, efficiently, and reliably. You'll complete a training period on day shift before moving onto a structured shift pattern that gives you six days off at a time, while still offering a competitive annual income and strong benefits.
Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality mechanical maintenance to ensure factory performance targets are consistently met
  • Carry out mechanical setup, changeovers, and production support across a range of process equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns safely and efficiently
  • Perform planned preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
  • Support fabrication, machining, and installation of plant and machinery
  • Work safely at all times, following site standards and supporting a strong safety culture
  • Use stores systems and Maintenance Management Systems accurately
  • Respond to mechanical issues across production and utilities equipment within competence
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability activities across the site
Skills and Experience
  • Recognised mechanical apprenticeship (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or factory environment
  • Solid mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery
  • Computer literacy for stores systems and Maintenance Management Systems
  • Experience with fabrication or machining beneficial
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexible approach and comfortable working 12-hour shifts
Hours of Work
You will begin on day shift for training before moving onto a fixed shift rotation totalling 1,758 hours per year, consisting of the following 10-day shift pattern:
  • 2-day shifts - 06:45 to 19:00
  • 2-night shifts - 18:45 to 07:00
  • 6 days off
Additional details:
  • Holiday entitlement is built into the shift pattern
  • Shift swaps can be arranged to create additional time off
  • The company aims to give at least two weeks' notice for any change to the published roster

  • Salary: circa 50,000 per annum, plus overtime
