Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias)

Location: Manchester
Full-time | Permanent | Monday - Friday, 7am-3pm

Overview

Our client, a well-established manufacturer in Manchester, is looking for a

Maintenance Technician (mechanically biased with basic electrical knowledge)

to join their team. This is a hands-on role where you'll provide day-to-day maintenance support to ensure the safe and efficient running of all plant, equipment, and services.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to machine breakdowns and carry out timely repairs Prioritise maintenance jobs in line with business needs, working closely with the Operations team Support both planned and reactive maintenance across manufacturing Ensure routine maintenance is carried out effectively Work with external contractors on preventative and reactive works Provide occasional out-of-hours advice or call-out support when required Promote and maintain safe working practices, acting as a role model for health & safety standards

What We're Looking For

Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship Solid understanding of engineering practices, methods, and maintenance principles Experience with presses, furnaces, pumps, valves, or similar equipment Basic electrical knowledge desirable Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both internal teams and external contractors Flexible, proactive, and able to use initiative when problem solving Confident using Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and maintenance management software Logical thinker with the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure
