Role Overview



Mechanical Maintenance Technician is required for the maintenance of all Farm and Packhouse equipment including line support maintenance within a high-volume production environment. This role will suit a self-motivated individual who has a core competence as a mechanical technician but a keen electrical aptitude. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be expected to erect, install and repair electrical and mechanical plant and industrial machinery, fit and assemble parts and sub-assemblies in the growing and packaging of mushrooms.

Main duties as follows:



Maintain health, safety and hygiene standards as a number one priority in accordance with company rules and regulations Mechanical trouble-shooting and repairs to agricultural equipment, HVAC, high-speed packing lines, filling, packaging equipment, hydraulic winch systems and site utilities
Monitor line and machine performance. Work off your own initiative when a fault is detected and decide on action, based on your best judgment on whether to effect immediate repair or not

Ensure that all equipment preventative maintenance is carried out both efficiently and
safely

Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance documentation, following good documentation practices and keep maintenance management updated on maintenance progress on site To keep clean any areas in which you are working, including any transit areas to and from the workshop, including the workshop and stores Update the maintenance management system (CMMS), records of all changes, stores transactions made and work carried out
Support the production team in achieving targets

To oversee and assist if required, with any third party contractors in carrying out their duties on our site as and when required Being part of a callout service at weekends, if required, and form part of a rotating shift pattern Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies Examines drawings and specifications to determine appropriate methods and sequence of operations; Fits and assembles parts and/or metal sub-assemblies across the site mechanical equipment. Fits and assembles, other than to fine tolerances, prepared parts and sub-assemblies to make repair agricultural machinery and packaging equipment. Examines operation of, and makes adjustments to equipment as required. Erects, installs, repairs and services plant and industrial machinery, including Filling machines, packing machines and winches. Ensures the workshop is maintained to a high level of cleanliness as in line with GMP and GEP within the food industry. Ensures a Clean-As-You-Go way of working is maintained to a high level

Competencies to perform the role



Full level 3 mechanical maintenance qualification Competence in working with both modern day packing lines and agricultural equipment Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems inclusive of hydraulics, pneumatics and chain / belt drives Strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team Good communication skills verbal and written with particular emphasis towards English A high level of technical ability Computer literacy including knowledge of basic Microsoft packages Works well in a fast paced environment Flexibility in relation to working hours Ability to weld MIG/TIG to a proficient level

Education / Work Experience:



Apprentice trained and qualified mechanical technician to level 3 or above in maintenance. Minimum of 3 years' experience within a maintenance environment, ideally food Working knowledge of packaging machines, agricultural plant and HVAC Full driving licence
