Looking for your next big challenge? We're recruiting for a range of Engineer roles at Hunterston B Power Station, West Kilbride. It is an exciting time to join the Engineering Department with us as we start the deconstruction phase of the station life. We are looking for Engineers specialising in either Mechanical or Electrical to for our site design engineering group.
The opportunity
As we move through defueling and prepare for deconstruction, we're looking for engineers to join a dynamic Engineering Department that's central to Hunterston B's future. Based on-site, you'll be involved in developing decommissioning strategies, providing solutions to complex technical challenges and contribute to a culture of programme delivery.
Pay, benefits and culture
The salary range associated with this role is between 45,641 to 95,993, however, the starting salary for this appointment will be dependant on the successful candidate's competence, experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, site-based position at our Hunterston Power Station, West Kilbride.

What you'll be doing
Your key accountabilities will include:

• Support the development and execution of the deconstruction strategy for an AGR power station
• Providing technical advice and solutions for projects from scoping phase through to implementation
• Be authorised as Responsible Engineer, and Author / Verifier roles for Engineering Changes
• Provide an interface for projects between all relevant stakeholders both on and off-site on design change technical issues
• Liaising with peers in other Engineering groups within the fleet, to share best practice and foster a continuous development mind-set for local and fleet performance
• Ensuring station documentation and drawings are maintained and accurately reflect design and configuration changes.
• Use of technical discipline to aid investigations in specific plant areas

Who you are
Entry Qualifications - As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent). Candidates with a relevant Degree may have an advantage. Holding, or working towards, Chartered Engineer status, may be an advantage. Preferably we'd like you to have a background in Engineering with relevant industry experience. You will require the ability to work within a multi-disciplined engineering team to manage plant issues and projects from low to high complexity. A background in the nuclear industry would be an advantage but is not essential. Training will be provided based on existing experience.
An awareness of relevant legal and regulatory framework and compliance requirements is important, being able to identify and initiate solutions to improve equipment reliability. You should demonstrate a thorough and methodical approach to problem solving, alongside good organisational skills and a balanced approach to decision making. You'll need the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to diverse stakeholders, driving improvements on station.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
