InSite has a permanent opportunity for a motivated and suitably qualified Mechanical & Piping Engineer to join our team based at Valero Refinery, Pembrokeshire in West Wales.
The Role:
We are seeking a mechanical and piping engineer to work within an established engineering / drawing office within a refinery environment. As a mechanical and piping engineer you will act as the focal point within the engineering team to ensure that piping deliverables are provided to the correct level of quality and to match refinery and regulatory standards.
List of key responsibilities include:
Become the focal point of piping engineering deliverables and ensure their quality.
Provide engineer-level support to a team of piping designers.
Establish a strong grasp of standards and specifications applicable to piping deliverables and ensure that deliverables provided by the engineering team meet the standards
Introduce improvements into the working practices of the engineering team.
Develop and review engineering deliverables including:
General Arrangement drawings
Isometrics and spool drawings
Piping Material Specifications
Line lists
Material take-off's.
Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, structural, and instrumentation teams to ensure fully integrated designs.
Lead 3D model reviews and resolve piping clashes and layout issues. Perform site surveys and inspections.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a team of piping designers, ensuring quality and timely delivery of all project deliverables.
Interface with construction and site engineering teams to resolve design queries and provide technical support as required.
Key competencies, skills and knowledge required:
Essential
Engineering qualification. HND or higher qualification.3 to 5 years of engineering experience, with knowledge of piping engineering.
Familiarity of industry standards such as ASME B31.3.
Familiarity with engineering workflows.
Focused and driven individual to introduce improvements to drawing office environment.
Good leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
Desirable
Degree qualified mechanical engineer.
Chartered Engineer status.
Familiarity with engineering workflows to develop high-integrity refinery piping design deliverables.
Experience of working within Oil and Gas / refinery piping projects.
Familiarity with digital project execution and smart engineering tools.
