Role Overview
You'll lead the mechanical scope across all commercial elements--overseeing mechanical design, HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, and coordination with off-site fabrication and on-site installation teams. Your expertise will ensure seamless delivery, regulatory compliance, cost control, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design coordination, procurement, and installation of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire services, plant rooms).
Manage mechanical risers, ductwork, pipework, AHUs installation and commissioning (e.g., Emberton House) (bimtech-eng.com).
Coordinate with MEP contractors like Crown House Technologies/BJF Group and main contractor Laing O'Rourke.
Develop and manage mechanical project programmes, budgets, and resourcing.
Ensure compliance with UK regulations (e.g., Building Regs Part L, F, G, relevant industry standards).
Oversee off-site DfMA processes for mechanical systems and onsite installation.
Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, testing, commissioning, snagging.
Collaborate with design teams, architects, clients, and stakeholders.
Maintain comprehensive documentation: schedules, progress reports, records, change logs.
Candidate Requirements
5+ years managing mechanical systems on commercial or mixed-use MEP projects.
Qualifications: NVQ?Level?3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or degree in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering or Project Management.
Certifications: SMSTS (or SSSTS), Full UK driving licence.
Experience with off-site DfMA for mechanical services.
Strong budget control, scheduling, and team leadership capabilities.
Proficiency in MS Office and MEP/project management tools.
