Job Description


Oxford Brookes University is looking to recruit an experienced, reliable and highly motivated Mechanical Services Technician (Plumber/Gas Engineer/ Pipe Fitter) as a member of the Estates team to undertake planned, preventative and responsive maintenance across residential and academic buildings within the University Estate, working on both commercial and domestic buildings. Mechanical Services Technicians (Plumber/Gas Engineer/ Pipe Fitter) play a proactive role within a motivated and innovative team, delivering key objectives to meet directorate and university wide requirements.

Working hours for Mechanical Services Technician (Plumber/Gas Engineer/ Pipe Fitter)

This is a full time post which is 37 hours, typically Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm, but Oxford Brookes is supportive of flexible working, part time working and job sharing. Applicants who would like to have a working arrangement like this are encouraged to apply for this post. There is an on call allowance paid to this role with a rota of 1 / 8 week.

Overall Purpose of the post of Mechanical Services Technician (Plumber/Gas Engineer/ Pipe Fitter) :

To carry out planned, preventative and reactive mechanical services across the University\'s Estate, including maintenance of service records, maintenance schedules and Service Desk PPM\'s.

Qualifications and Experience for the post of Mechanical Services Technician (Plumber/Gas Engineer/ Pipe Fitter) :

Qualifications: A recognised apprenticeship in mechanical/ HVAC services, City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3, ACS for CCN1, COCN1 or equivalent qualifications.

Experience: Significant post apprenticeship operational experience in mechanical services.
