A vacancy exists for the position of Mechanical Technician, Carrington Power Station. Carrington Power Station comprises 2x440 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine's (CCGT's) and is located near Manchester.
The candidate will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members. They will have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician will carry out maintenance of mechanical equipment associated with the Power Plant and its auxiliaries to the highest safety standards and practices. Duties will include but not be limited to:
Operating as part of the mechanical maintenance team across a wide range of duties making optimum use of the work management system
Fault finding and Maintaining assets in accordance with the technician's specialist technical discipline
Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS
Supervising and directing contractors
Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions
Comply with corporate and statutory safety and environmental obligations
Carry out authorised roles under the safety rules
Be part of an on-call system reacting to maintenance and operational matters
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
A minimum of 3 years' experience in Mechanical Maintenance
Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors
Ability to organise and prioritise work
Good IT skills
Desirable
An understanding of mechanical, heavy rotational, pressure systems and power generation
Experience in project management and/or good planning skills
Qualifications
Essential
Time served apprenticeship
A relevant engineering qualification at least at craft level
Location
This position will be based in Carrington Power Station, near Manchester.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the Mechanical Team Leader, Carrington Power Station.
