At Universal Converting Equipment, we design and manufacture advanced slitter rewinders, core cutters, and bespoke converting machinery used around the world. Known for innovation, reliability, and quality, we are expanding and looking for a Mechanical Technician - Fitter to join our production team

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented

Mechanical Technician - Fitter

to assemble, fit, and test our precision-engineered machinery. You'll play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of build quality, including thorough quality checking and inspection throughout the assembly process.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical assembly and fitting of converting equipment and subassemblies. Interpret and work from engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation. Carry out in-process and post-assembly quality checks to ensure parts and assemblies meet strict tolerances. Use of hand tools, measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators), and workshop machinery. Identify and rectify build issues, reporting any non-conformities.

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience in mechanical fitting/assembly, preferably in machinery or equipment manufacturing. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices. Ability to carry out

detailed quality inspections

and identify non-conformities. Comfortable using a wide range of tools and measuring instruments. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Self-motivated, methodical, and able to work independently or within a team.
