An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Mechanical Services Technician, within Perth & Kinross Council. The post will form part of the Energy and Engineering Team within Property Services which is responsible for the provision of a wide range of building related services to public buildings.
The role has been created to allow the council to continue with improvement works including statutory compliance throughout its estate portfolio.
The duties will require the co-ordination of all Mechanical infrastructure but predominantly water services in accordance with relevant regulations and standards within the council's operational buildings.
There is also an expectation that the postholder may work on other Mechanical and Energy related Infrastructure projects such as replacement heating & ventilation systems and BMS upgrades.
An additional part of the role will be the requirement to work across teams to meet future Climate Change commitments, reduce water consumption and implement water conservation measures using innovative techniques and solutions.
Other duties that will be associated with role include but not limited to the following:
To support and assist with the day-to-day delivery of mechanical and electrical engineering activities.
Carry out surveys and prepare drawing information using AutoCAD drawing packages.
Organise and control all allocated work, ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively, ensuring a high quality of design and installation.
To prepare specifications and technical information.
To complete site by site water audits.
Undertake all administration works associated with the smooth running of any allocated project.
To report on specific project expenditure in relation to the projects under the postholder's control
Prepare information for reports as required.
Assist in the development of more efficient and standardised documentation.
Maintain a sound knowledge of current contract conditions and contract practices.
To contribute to the development and implementation of consistent design, technical, specification, procurement, maintenance and services standards.
To contribute to the implementation of good/best practice principles in all aspects of Mechanical Services Design, Maintenance and procurement matters.
To monitor and record Contractors' performance, maintain effective records of all projects and ensure that all contract matters are dealt with timeously.
To ensure, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, that the delivery of these services meets the needs of the Council and the community
To actively promote the Property Service in order to raise the profile of the Council and demonstrate its value to residents and customers
Undertake out of hour / call out duties in response to property related incidents and emergencies
Reviewing any servicing reports, interpreting results and instructing any remedial action required.
Providing practical knowledge of plumbing and water systems, suggesting solutions to resolve issues identified such as water leaks or excessive water consumption.
Monitor hot and cold-water services post completion of works via remote desktop software including Siemens Desigo CC.
To monitor Automatic Meter Read (AMR) platform where water consumption is recorded to identify changes in profiles and potential water leaks.
Complete water leak checklist on sites where potential leaks have been highlighted.
Undertake site by site benchmarking for water consumption on all PKC properties.
