Job Description

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Key Responsibilities:



Maintenance & Repairs:


o Preventive maintenance on all site assets and systems to ensure optimal performance.

o Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnosing the issue and repair in an efficient and timely manner.

o Ensure all machinery complies with current Health and Safety regulations.

Troubleshooting:


o Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues in machinery or systems.

o Use tools, problem solving methodologies and diagnostic equipment to identify issues and determine necessary actions to restore functionality.

o Record all maintenance activities in detailed logs.

Equipment Upgrades & Modifications:


o Recommend and implement upgrades to existing equipment to improve efficiency, safety, or energy consumption.

o Work with vendors or manufacturers to acquire replacement parts or new machinery when necessary.

Technical Support:


o Provide technical support and advice to operators and other personnel on safe equipment use and maintenance.

o Conduct training sessions or demonstrations for staff on operating machinery correctly.

Safety Compliance:


o Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.

o Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures for both routine and emergency maintenance tasks.

o Ensure all tools and equipment used are maintained to a high standard of safety.

Inventory Management:


o Maintain and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical parts are always available.

o Work with suppliers to order materials and equipment for maintenance activities.

Reporting & Documentation:


o Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and costs.

o Report on equipment performance, recommending improvements or replacements.

o Maintain up-to-date records for regulatory compliance.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:



Qualifications:



Education:

Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Additional certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) are a plus.

Experience:

Proven Leadership and management of teams, min 5 years. 2-5 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role (specific industry experience preferred, e.g., manufacturing, utilities, etc.). Familiarity with equipment such as Lathes, Pillar Drills , Welding equipment etc. Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance and repair techniques.

Technical Skills:

Strong mechanical knowledge and electrical, and electronic knowledge would be an advantage. Proficiency with diagnostic tools, power tools, and hand tools. Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), or relevant automation systems is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations. Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, suppliers, and management.

Working Conditions:



Full-time, 37.5 Hrs Per week - 07.00 - 15.00 daily

Overtime occasional or situation based, no guarantee

On-call availability for emergencies, once probation is complete

Physical work involving bending, lifting, and moving heavy equipment.

Work in industrial environments, which may involve exposure to machinery, chemicals, and high noise levels.

Training:



To undertake any training as required in the interests of Health and Safety.

To undertake any training Kernow Coatings deems that will further enhance and enable you to fulfil your role.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 30,000.00-35,000.00 per year
