An exciting new vacancy has arisen for a Medical Engineering Technician.
The Medical Electronics Department will be responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of all medical equipment across WWL's services. As this is a brand-new service, the successful applicant will be expected to work with minimum supervision, and demonstrate a very proactive, enthusiastic approach to their work to introduce best practise solutions from the outset.
The applicant should possess an HNC in electrical / electronic engineering and have experience of working in the field of electrical / electronic maintenance, preferably in a healthcare environment.Experience of working with engineering databases would be a distinct advantage.
The role will require the post holder to travel across the Wigan & Leigh area in a works vehicle as part of their normal daily duties.

This is a permanent post working 37.5 hours per week. A flexible approach will be required, with the occasional requirement to work outside of normal clinic hours.

Main duties of the job
Responsibilities will include acceptance testing of new equipment, minor repairs and planned preventative maintenance. A knowledge of cleaning / decontamination procedures would be an advantage.
This position will also assist WWL sleep services by doing acceptance testing and troubleshooting on respiratory equipment.
The role will offer training & the opportunity to progress throughout the Trusts engineering services.
You will be self-motivated and well-organised, capable of planning and executing the maintenance of equipment used in various levels of clinical areas. This requires good communication and negotiation skills as you will be required to organise access arrangements with equipment users and external suppliers in conjunction with other divisions.
You will also be expected to ensure efficient use of financial resources within the department and any other tasks required for effective operation of the department.
