An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to join the busy Pathology Front of House team at Pilgrim Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. The department is part of the Path Links networked NHS Pathology Service offering a wide range of diagnostic investigations on tissue, blood, and fluid samples across Lincolnshire, and is also part of the East Midlands Pathology Network, ME2.
The post is based within the Pathology departments at Pilgrim Hospital, and is working three days a week (Tuesday - 09:00-17:30, Thursday - 09:00-17:30, Friday - 09:00-17:30). There is a requirement to participate in the Front of House rota for weekends on a pro rata basis.
Following full training the post holder will be an integral part of the Pathology Reception during evenings (Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri), the successful candidate will be responsible for receipting and booking in a variety of samples for processing. Dealing with queries and telephone calls from service users.
Candidate must have good Numeracy and Literacy skills and be confident in the use of Information Technology. Previous experience of working within a NHS and/or laboratory, experience of working to tight schedules and standard operating procedures would be an advantage.
