Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistants to join our UKAS accredited, diagnostic Cellular Pathology department.

Knowledge of histopathology laboratory procedures and practice, excellent IT skills, experience with laboratory computer systems and working with a quality management system would be an advantage.



This post is fixed term/secondment for 24 months to 30/06/2028 to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for this as a secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post



The successful candidates will have a good standard of general education and good interpersonal skills. They will also need to have a flexible approach to the service, be able to multi task, be self motivated and work well under pressure using their own initiative.



The post holders will also be willing to undertake local training and qualifications relevant to the post.



The main duties include:



Supporting the Biomedical Scientists and Consultant Pathologists in the day to day operation and maintenance of the cellular pathology laboratory premises and equipment.



Support the diagnostic services of the department, ensuring the department meets or exceeds both local and nationally agreed standards of service delivery. The post holders will support the laboratory in maintaining quality accreditation.



The post holder will work as part of the laboratory team where appropriate liaising with laboratory staff, medical staff and other hospital staff, users, and other external contacts.
