About the Role
The role of Medical Needs Teaching Assistant centres around supporting pupils who require additional health or personal care alongside their education. You will work closely with teachers and healthcare professionals to ensure pupils are safe, comfortable and able to participate fully in school life. Each day is varied and brings the chance to see pupils achieve milestones that matter.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Providing medical and care support, including administering medication and following individual care plans
Supporting pupils in lessons to access learning at their own pace
Assisting with personal care, mobility and feeding where required
Closely monitoring pupil wellbeing and responding to any medical or emotional needs
Encouraging independence and life skills wherever possible
Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and staff
Who We're Looking For
This role suits individuals with a background in health, care or support work who want to move into education, as well as experienced SEND Teaching Assistants. You'll need to bring patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting young people with additional needs.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience in SEND, care, health or support work
Confidence in following care plans and working under guidance from healthcare professionals
Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance, Care, Health and Social Care or related fields are welcomed
Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach

You will be joining a specialist school where pupils are celebrated for their individuality and supported to reach their full potential. The environment is nurturing, structured and designed to meet the needs of children with a wide range of additional and medical needs.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available
