We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional patient service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role is crucial in ensuring that reception operates smoothly and that patients feel welcomed and cared for
Duties
Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
Telephone duties - receiving GP triage call requests and answering enquiries from patients, pharmacists, hospitals, nursing homes etc.
Preparing repeat prescriptions for doctors' signature and collection by patient/pharmacies.
Arranging patient appointments for practice nurses
Scanning relevant correspondence on to patient records and sign posting to appropriate department.
Arrange interpreting service requests from patients/doctors
Explain practice procedures and BSO requirements to new patients and temporary patients.
Cover duties of absent members of staff as and when required.
Flexibility of hours to suit practice needs.
Adhere to the policies and procedures of the practice.
Any other duties assigned by the practice manager.
Essential Criteria
- Have the ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Computer literate
- Flexibility of hours to cover the needs of the practice.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of previously working in a medical environment (working within a GP surgery setting advantageous) although full training will be given to the successful candidate.
