Job Description

We are looking to recruit a part-time Medical Receptionist on a permanent basis to join the team at Glastonbury Surgery.

The successful candidate will be comfortable interacting with the public on the telephone and face to face with a professional and friendly approach.

The busy working environment and diverse role of a medical receptionist presents an opportunity for someone that is eager to learn and work effectively as part of a team.

You will assist with the smooth running of the surgery and have a comprehensive induction with full training for the role.

The working pattern for the role is as follows:

21 hours per week



Monday: 8am - 2pm

Tuesday: 8am - 1pm

Thursday: 8am - 1pm

Friday: 8am - 1pm

Main Duties & Responsibilities



Reception desk - greet patients and respond to all enquiries Appointment management - book patients and respond to requests for appointments from clinicians Management of medical records Preparation of consulting rooms Operating the telephone system Practice opening & closing procedure Administration of forms and documentation
All responsibilities are shared across the team on a rota basis.

Professional communication skills Ability to communicate effectively via telephone and in person Good interpersonal skills Motivated, reliable and commitment to team working Can work accurately and calmly under pressure Can work within clearly defined guidelines and protocols Demonstrate a flexible approach to work including increasing working hours to provide cover during annual leave/sickness when able. The ability to respond positively to change Demonstrates an ability to value the opinions of others Willingness to undergo education/ training for both practice and service needs Common sense and ability to use own judgement

Experience



Essential

Experience working with the general public
Desirable

Working in a busy office environment. Experience working in a GP practice or wider NHS. Experience of using the EMIS (Optum) clinical system or similar computer systems managing data.

Qualifications



Essential

Good literacy and numeracy skills Basic computer experience
Desirable

GCSE grade 4 or above in English & Maths
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.43 per hour
