Job Description

Based in Watling Street Practice @ Shenley Church, this is a exciting opportunity for a reliable and friendly receptionist to join our team; initially on a 3 month fixed term basis, in which time there will be a review that may lead to a permanent role.

Please note that we plan to hold interviews during the week commencing August 18th, with a view to someone starting as early as August 26th.

Hours, Salary and Benefits

Shift Pattern - 27.5 hours per week


Conversations around flexible working and compressed hours are encouraged.

Monday: 7:45am - 1:15pm Tuesday: 8am - 1:30pm Wednesday: 7:45am - 1:15pm Thursday: 7:45am - 1:15pm Friday: 1pm - 6:30pm

Job Summary



As a Medical Receptionist working in Primary Care, you will be the face of the practice; together with your colleagues you will be supporting our patients, and the clinical teams that care for them.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will handle enquiries with professionalism and empathy. You will also be responsible for administrative duties such as appointment scheduling and maintaining patient records.

The role is varied - no two calls are the same - and you will be responsible for making sure patients are dealt with in an efficient and friendly manner.

Your primary place of work will be Watling Street Practice @ Shenley Church End, but you may be expected to work from our Stony Stratford and Great Holm sites from time to time.

Main Responsibilities and Duties



Booking appointments for patients with the appropriate medical professional Dealing with general enquiries from patients and visitors Assisting patients to complete new registration forms Supporting colleagues to maintain an efficient and friendly atmosphere Assisting with any other administration required

About You



A customer service professional with a kind and courteous manner. You have high levels of accuracy and understand the importance of getting information correct at all times. You are resilient in the face of difficult situations, offering support and understanding to our patients. You will be used to a fast-paced environment with a varied task list and tight deadlines. You understand the importance of confidentiality and work efficiently with your colleagues to get the job done.

Essential Criteria



Experience working with the public, both face to face and over the telephone

Desirable Criteria



Experience within a healthcare organisation Experience with SystmOne would be an ideal, however full training will be provided.
