Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and professional experienced Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks in a busy medical environment. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.

Duties



Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression. Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar. Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls as necessary. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality is upheld. Process patient forms and documentation with attention to detail. Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate smooth operations within the practice. Handling Solicitor/Insurance requests Ensure the reception area is tidy and welcoming at all times. appropriate healthcare professional Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail Taking messages and passing on information Filing and retrieving paperwork Processing repeat prescriptions. Computer data entry/data, processing and recording information. Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and outside agencies. Clearing and re-stocking of consulting rooms as required Data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required Any other duties requested by the Practice Manager/Deputy Manager

Qualifications



Previous experience in an administrative or office role, preferably within a healthcare setting. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in using office equipment and computer software A compassionate approach towards patients, demonstrating empathy and professionalism at all times. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.

Health & safety:



The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice health & safety policy, the practice health & safety manual, and the practice infection control policy and published procedures. This will include:

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way, free from hazards Actively reporting health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised Keeping own work areas and general/patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holders role Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually) Reporting potential risks identified Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Previous GP Practice Medical Receptionist Experience - Essential Medical System(SystmOne) or EMIS Experience - Essential
