Job Summary
We are seeking experienced
Locum Medical Registrars (ST3-ST8)
to join NHS Trust hospitals across General Internal Medicine and acute specialties. The post-holder will provide senior clinical support for inpatient and acute admissions, contribute to the acute medical take, and manage patients across general medicine and a wide range of subspecialties.
This role is critical to ensuring safe patient care, timely decision-making, and supervision of junior doctors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and participate in the
acute medical take
and admission of acutely unwell patients.
Provide senior input for the management of inpatients under the care of General Medicine and subspecialty teams.
Attend and contribute to ward rounds, MDT meetings, and outpatient clinics.
Support the safe discharge and transfer of patients, ensuring appropriate documentation.
Supervise, support, and train junior doctors and medical students.
Escalate to the on-call consultant as appropriate, ensuring timely decision-making.
Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit activities.
Uphold NHS Trust policies on infection control, safeguarding, and patient safety.

Acute Medicine
Cardiology
Respiratory Medicine
Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Endocrinology & Diabetes
Renal Medicine (Nephrology)
Haematology
Oncology
Rheumatology
Infectious Diseases
Neurology
Geriatric Medicine (Elderly Care)
Dermatology (Medical aspects)
Palliative Medicine
Stroke Medicine
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
Full
GMC registration
with licence to practise.
MBBS (or equivalent medical qualification).
Minimum of
2-3 years' registrar-level (ST3+) experience in General/Internal Medicine or related subspecialty.
Valid
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
certification.
Evidence of completion of
Core Essential Learning (CEL)
modules as required by the NHS Trust.
Excellent acute care skills and ability to manage complex, unwell patients.
Strong communication, leadership, and teamworking skills.
Desirable:
MRCP (UK)
or equivalent Royal College postgraduate qualification.
Previous NHS experience at registrar level.
Experience in audit, teaching, or clinical research.
Additional life support courses such as
ACLS, ATLS, or specialty-based certification
.
Other Requirements
Enhanced DBS clearance
(within the last 12 months or registered on the Update Service).
Occupational Health clearance
with up-to-date immunisation records.
Right to work in the UK.
Flexibility to cover full shift patterns, including weekends, evenings, and nights.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: 53.78-84.94 per hour
Expected hours: 45 - 50 per week
