The Medical Secretary post holder will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive secretarial and administrative services across HIV and Neurology Services. They will work within multi-disciplinary teams and be responsible for the provision of a range of secretarial and administrative duties relating to patient pathway management, audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters. Proof reading is an essential part of the role.



The post holder will work to NHS Referral to Treatment (RTT) ensuring patient data is accurately recorded in relation to National and Local RTT standards.



Candidates should be literate and numerate, with excellent organisational, time management, IT skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team and to work without supervision.



Medical secretarial experience is desirable but not essential. You will have a high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels. You will have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work.



The post holder will need to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to meet tight deadlines. The post holder will be expected to cross cover colleagues in times of annual leave and sickness.



The job holder will be responsible for the effective provision of a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to clinical specialist teams Responsible for the provision of a range of secretarial and administrative duties, including, audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters, production of reports and other correspondence as required by the medical team and telephone cover as and when required.



The post holder will also be responsible for providing cross cover to colleagues which at times will include processing of referrals, monitoring 18 Week RTT, monitoring and actioning of waiting lists, booking appointments and cashing up clinics, rescheduling clinics, monitoring fast track referrals and clinics.



To act as the focal point of contact and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages and enquiries for the medical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within and outside of BTHFT.



The job holder will have extensive involvement with Clinicians and Service Managers / Team Managers across the Trust to ensure that patients are treated in accordance with the Trust's policy and procedures



This role is primarily based at St Luke's Hospital, however there may occasionally be a requirement to work across sites to provide cover as the service spans both Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital.
