This is a full time, fixed term position for 2 years.



This is a unique opportunity for a medical statistician to join our research team to support clinical, translational and real-world data research projects. The Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre (OTMC), NDORMS, is based at the Botnar Institute and is dedicated to advancing personalised care in Multiple Myeloma and related plasma cell dyscrasias towards achieving improved patient outcomes and cure. The role is a collaboration between the Centre for Statistics in Medicine and OTMC with the post-holder providing high-quality statistical input across study design, data analysis, and reporting, contributing to impactful academic publications and outputs.

As a Medical Statistician you will contribute to planning, managing and conducting original academic research projects and associated activities, taking direction from your supervisor and other colleagues as appropriate. You will coordinate multiple aspects of work to deliver novel research data in accordance with established timelines set between you and your supervisor as well as develop or tailor analytical tools, scientific techniques, protocols and resources appropriate to the work in collaboration with members of the research team. In this position you will conduct detailed analysis of datasets, identify and troubleshoot technical or scientific problems, and check, validate and clean data. You will also provide statistical analysis plans for studies and undertake day to day planning of work as well as write up statistical analysis and results which may be used for relevant sections of manuscripts, presentations and other means of disseminating results.

For this position you must hold a degree in a relevant subject and a post-graduate degree in medical statistics or a closely related field involving substantial training in statistics. You must have a good understanding of a statistical package (for example Stata or R) and ability to work with complex spreadsheets and databases, together with a willingness to undertake training on statistical and artificial intelligence methodologies. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes and work methodically with good attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. You will also have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving environments and work with people from different backgrounds and all levels of seniority.
Experience of working in medical research and with using real-world data is desirable.
