Job Summary

We are looking for a

Medication Lead

to join our friendly and committed team at our Beaconsfield residential care home.

As our Medication Lead, you will take responsibility for the effective management of all medicines within the home, supporting residents' well-being, leading best practice, and ensuring full compliance with company policies, CQC standards, and national guidelines such as NICE.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on all aspects of medicines management within the home, ensuring safe storage, ordering, administration, and disposal of medications. Carry out hands-on medication administration to residents with accuracy, professionalism, and compassion. Oversee and maintain MAR charts, audits, stock control, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements. Support, guide, and mentor staff involved in medication administration, including conducting competency assessments and refresher training. Work closely with GPs, pharmacies, and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth, safe, and timely medication processes. Ensure strict compliance with CQC regulations, relevant legislation, and best practice guidelines. Identify areas for improvement and implement high-quality, person-centred medication practices across the service.

Experience and Qualification

Proven experience in a care role, with significant hands-on experience in medication administration within a residential or clinical healthcare setting. A relevant Health and Social Care qualification (e.g.,

NVQ Level 2 or 3

). Completed accredited medication management and administration training (

Level 3 beneficial

). Experience in carrying out competency assessments for staff. Strong understanding of

CQC regulations

, medicines legislation, and

NICE best practice

for medicines management in care homes. Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills. A meticulous, safety-focused approach and a genuine commitment to resident well-being.
