Our first club, JAB SW1, has redefined the boutique fitness experience - offering world-class coaching, state-of-the-art facilities (from boxing studios to recovery suites and health bar), and an electric atmosphere that keeps our members coming back for more. Now, as we prepare to launch our next club in the heart of London's EC1 district, we're on a mission to empower even more individuals to push their limits and join our community.

The Role



As the Membership Sales Director, you will be the driving force behind our membership growth strategy from pre-opening through post-launch and beyond. Your mission is clear: achieve a robust member base (think 1,500+ members by opening day and 3,000+ in steady state) while maintaining our premium positioning and exceptional member experience. You'll develop and execute sales strategies, forge partnerships, and lead a small team of membership sales consultants to hit and exceed ambitious targets. This role is perfect for a self-starter who has successfully scaled membership at a new gym or club and is excited by the challenge of doing it again - bigger and better.

Key Responsibilities



Develop and execute a comprehensive membership sales strategy for the new club, covering both pre-opening acquisition campaigns and ongoing growth post-launch. Drive pre-sale memberships - generate buzz and secure at least 1,500 members before doors open through innovative marketing, local outreach, corporate partnerships, and lead generation initiatives. Lead and mentor the membership sales team (recruiting and building the team as needed), fostering a high-performance, goal-oriented culture. Leverage your network and community engagement - use your Rolodex and relationships (especially in the EC1/City of London area) to identify and pursue potential member leads, including corporate clients and local influencers. Achieve and exceed membership targets of ~3,000 members and beyond in the first year, while maintaining premium pricing and member quality. Monitor key metrics (lead conversion rates, sales funnel performance, member attendance, churn rates) and adjust tactics to optimize performance and retention. Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to craft compelling membership packages, promotional campaigns, and launch events that drive sign-ups and create excitement in the community. Ensure an exceptional onboarding experience for new members - you are the face of JAB for prospective members, so you'll make sure every joiner feels welcomed, informed, and excited from their first interaction. Foster a strong member community in partnership with club management - help organize member referral programs, attend club events, and gather feedback to continually improve our membership experience. Stay attuned to market trends and competitor offerings, using this insight to keep JAB's membership proposition compelling and competitive.

What We're Looking For



Proven experience in fitness club membership sales - you have 5+ years of experience driving membership growth in a successful, high-end gym or club environment. Track record of launching or scaling a club from scratch - you've taken a new gym from zero to thousands of members (ideally 2,500+ members around launch), and you know how to build momentum and sustain it. Background in top-tier fitness brands is a major plus (e.g. you've led membership or sales teams at clubs like Third Space, Equinox, Virgin Active, Gymbox or similar known for their strong sales culture and premium service). Deep knowledge of the London market - especially the City/EC1 area. You have an existing network of contacts and potential members and understand the local corporate and residential demographics. Exceptional sales and negotiation skills - you are a closer who can influence and persuade, but also a trusted advisor who can articulate the value of a JAB membership to a discerning clientele. Leadership & team management - you know how to recruit, train, and motivate a sales team, leading by example and fostering a winning mentality. Strategic mindset with hands-on execution - you can craft high-level strategy and also roll up your sleeves to execute tactics, whether it's making outreach calls yourself, hosting open house events, or brainstorming promotional ideas. Metrics-driven and tech-savvy - comfortable using CRM systems, tracking performance data, and adjusting your approach based on what the numbers tell you. Passion for fitness and community - you genuinely believe in the transformative power of fitness (especially boxing) and can convey that enthusiasm to prospective members. You thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment and love building community.
